Certificate of analysis

A certificate of analysis is the document a laboratory issues for one specific batch, reporting what testing found in that batch. It is batch-specific: a certificate for a different lot tells you nothing about yours, which is why every figure below names the lot it came from.

Description

BPC-157 is a chain of fifteen amino acids. The sequence corresponds to a section of a larger protein called Body Protection Compound, which was originally identified in human gastric juice. The fragment sold as BPC-157 is made synthetically — it is not extracted from anything — and the parent protein's own function is not fully mapped.

Most of what is proposed about BPC-157 concerns signalling pathways involved in how tissue responds to injury. In animal studies it has been associated with changes in the expression of growth factor receptors, with nitric oxide signalling, and with angiogenesis — the process by which new small blood vessels form. Those are the mechanisms researchers have proposed. It is worth being precise about the state of this evidence: the mechanistic picture comes overwhelmingly from rodent models, and a proposed mechanism is a hypothesis about how something might work, not a demonstration that it does work in people.
